Honduras Mission Trip 2011

October 2, 2011

“The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.” Saint Augustine

It never ceases to truly amaze me just how big is our God. Whenever I travel to another part of the world, it is like turning the page in a novel and discovering the vast creativity of the Author Almighty. Over the next week, from October 1st through 8th, our mission team from Snellville United Methodist Church will be gathering together to travel around and share the love of God with the people of Honduras.  Our team consists of: Cathy Adams, Ira Adams, Nerissa Salmon, Julie Schendel, Kinsey Snell, Dana Tillman, Rebecca Varner, Scott Watkins, Dave Whitworth, Dan White, and Genesis Willis. We have several members who have been on multiple mission trips, and a few who are here for the first time. Regardless of years of experience or knowledge of Honduras, we all recognize that each group is unique and each trip is an adventure. Whether or not we’ve been on a mission trip before doesn’t matter, because none of us have ever been on this mission trip before. The people that we meet will be new, and the experiences will be one of a kind. The way that God uses each of us will be fresh and renewed each day as we open ourselves to the possibility of letting God work in and through us. We are nervous, excited, anxious and ready to go and discover what God can do.

I hope the whole team has a blessed trip. What an amazing way to serve our Lord, while also exploring the wonderful world and people he created. Prayers for a successful and safe trip. And may God bless all those you meet. Take care.

I love the St. Augustine quote. His World is a gift, is it not?
